Lucy Lindner

I have been teaching yoga since 2001 but it has always been a part of my life. I was lucky enough to have a yoga-teaching mum so my brother and I were brought up using visualisation to help us sleep and mindful breathing to help with headaches and injuries. As a young adult, after being diagnosed as epileptic, I was given a daily yoga practice by Swami Niranjanananda. Having experienced the benefits of yoga first hand I went to India and South East Asia to study, and subsequently teach yoga.

I first studied Satyananda yoga with my mum and then with the Sivananda organisation in 2002. I moved to France, to live and work at an ashram in order to experience yoga as a complete lifestyle. I went on to live and teach in Paris for three years including four months spent living at the Centre International Sivananda de Yoga Vedanta. I have been teaching children’s yoga since 2003 having trained with Calm for Kids. More recently I have enjoying studying with Donna Farhi and am inspired by Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers.

I am also a student of Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh and have spent many inspiring days at his retreat centre Plum Village in the south of France. His teachings on mindfulness in daily life greatly influence the classes I teach. I taught meditation as part of a yoga teacher training course and am now working on a new project to help bring mindfulness into mainstream education.
